International F3000 1991

Christian Fittipaldi (Pacific) - 1991 Champion

Christian Fittipaldi (pictured), driving for Pacific, won the 1991 F3000 Championship, a season where the Reynard 91D was the car to have. Future two-time CART champion Alex Zanardi finished 2nd overall for Il Barone Rampante. Third was Emanuele Naspetti with a brace of four wins for Forti Corse. He went on to race briefly in F1 with March and Jordan. Future F1 champion Damon Hill finished 7th overall, driving an uncompetitive Lola for Team Barclay Eddie Jordan Racing.

Round 4: Naspetti had accident in warm-up after qualifying 8th; all other grid positions moved up accordingly. Deletraz entered but withdrawn before practice. Round 5: Gounon won on the road but was penalised 60s for a jumpstart. Fittipaldi black-flagged after 7 laps for push-start. Round 6: Frentzen did not qualify after accident in free practice. Menu did not start after practice accident. Round 9: Giovanardi did not start after accident in practice. Round 10: Only 25 starters after all other entries withdrawn.
